Elite Series 2 drifting, or a stick that creeps on its own with your hands off the pad? The stock Elite sticks use a carbon potentiometer that wears a groove into its own track. Once that track is worn, no amount of recalibration or compressed air brings it back — the part has to come out.
TMR sticks read position magnetically, so nothing inside them touches anything else. There is no wiper, no carbon track, and nothing to wear out. Same principle as hall effect, with lower power draw and a finer signal.
This is a soldered repair. The stick module is soldered to the controller board with 14 pins and has to be desoldered to come out. You need an iron, solder wick or a desoldering gun, and some practice. If you have not done board-level work before, this is not the part to learn on — an Elite Series 2 is an expensive thing to practise against.
Fits: Xbox Elite Series 2 and Elite Series 2 Core (Model 1797).
Does not fit: standard Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S controllers, which use a different stick assembly.
Sold as a single stick. An Elite controller has two — if both are drifting, or you would rather do the job once, order two.
