The full rundown

Stock photo shown. This is a USED console and it DOES NOT OUTPUT VIDEO. It is sold as a repair project or for parts, not as a working console. Read the whole listing before you buy.

Console Only, No Controller, No Cables.

What it does

  • Powers on normally, fans spin, no error beeps
  • No picture on any TV, any input, any HDMI cable
  • Before it failed completely it booted in low resolution mode a few times, then video stopped altogether

What has already been tried

It went to a repair shop and the HDMI port was already serviced. The fault did not change. That shop's assessment was that the retimer IC is the likely cause, which matches the symptom pattern: a retimer that degrades will often drop to a lower resolution before it stops passing a signal at all.

That diagnosis has not been independently confirmed and we are not claiming it as fact. We are telling you exactly what we were told and exactly what the console does.

Why this is worth fixing

A new Xbox Series X 1TB disc edition is $799.99 at retail right now. Everything in this console except the video output is believed good, so for someone who can do board-level work, or who wants the PSU, disc drive, cooling assembly, Wi-Fi board, shell and APU as parts, the maths is very different from buying new.

Who this is NOT for

Do not buy this to play games. It will not display a picture as shipped. If you are not set up for board-level repair or a part-out, this is the wrong console for you.

Common questions

Is the photo the actual console? No, it is a stock image of the same model. This unit is used and has the fault described above.

Is the HDMI port the problem? It was the obvious first suspect and has already been addressed. The fault persisted, which is what points at the retimer instead.

Does the disc drive work? We cannot verify the drive without video output. Assume it is untested.

Can I return it if I cannot fix it? No. The fault is fully disclosed, so it is sold as described.
