Xbox One S starting up — light on, fan audible — but nothing reaching the TV? Shine a torch into the HDMI socket before you give up on the console. Bent, flattened or missing gold pins in there are the most common cause by a wide margin, and the board is usually perfectly fine.
It is almost always mechanical: a cable trodden on or knocked while the console is plugged in, levering the connector until a pin folds over.
Brand new replacement HD socket, HDMI compatible.
This is board-level work. The old port has to be lifted with hot air and the new one reflowed onto the pads. A soldering iron alone will not do it — you need a rework station, flux and experience, or a shop that has them.
Fits: Xbox One S only.
Does not fit: the original Xbox One or the Xbox One X. All three consoles use different sockets, and we list each one separately. Also not Xbox Series X or S.
Try a different cable and another TV input first. A failing HDMI lead produces exactly the same black screen and costs nothing to rule out.
