The rubber grip on an Xbox 360 thumbstick wears out long before the rest of the controller does. Once the textured top goes smooth or the rubber splits at the rim, your thumb slides off mid-game. These are direct replacement thumbstick caps for the Xbox 360 controller. They pull off and push on with your fingers, so there is nothing to open and nothing to solder.
What this fixes
- Bald, shiny thumbsticks where the grip texture has worn away
- Torn or split rubber around the edge of the stick
- Sticky, tacky or crumbling rubber on a controller that sat in storage
- Your thumb slipping off during shooters and racing games
What you get
Sold as a pair, which is both sticks on one controller (left and right). Black, rubberized, with the concave dish top that matches the original Microsoft profile.
Fits
- Xbox 360 wireless controller, all revisions
- Xbox 360 wired controller
- Xbox 360 S and Xbox 360 E controllers
Does not fit
Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox Elite controllers use a different stick stem. We stock separate covers for Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
How to install
- Pinch the old cap at its base and pull straight up. It lifts off the plastic stem with firm thumb pressure.
- Line the new cap up over the stem.
- Press down until it sits flush against the controller shell.
Under a minute per stick. You never have to open the controller.

Common questions
Will this fix stick drift? No. Drift comes from the potentiometer module inside the controller, not the rubber cap on top. A cover fixes grip and appearance only. If your stick moves on its own with nothing touching it, you need a replacement joystick assembly instead.
Do I need one pair or two? One pair covers both sticks on a single controller. Buy one pair per controller.
Are these original Microsoft parts? No, these are third-party replacements built to the original dimensions. They fit and feel like the factory caps at a fraction of the price.
Do they come off during play? No. They grip the stem by friction the same way the originals do.
