Email usThe full rundown
DualShock 4 drift is one of the most common controller failures out there. The camera creeps, the character walks on its own, or the stick feels loose and will not snap back to center. Nine times out of ten the fix is a new potentiometer module, not a new controller. This is a direct replacement 3-pin joystick assembly for the PS4 controller: stick stem, housing and both potentiometers, ready to solder onto the board.
What this fixes
- Stick drift with nothing touching the controller
- Dead zones or a stick that stops short of full range
- A loose, wobbly or scratchy-feeling stick
- A broken stem where the thumbstick cap snapped off
What you get
Sold as a single assembly, which replaces one stick.
Fits
- PS4 DualShock 4, all board revisions (JDM-001 through JDM-055 / JDS-055)
Does not fit
PS3 and PS5 controllers use different modules. We stock those separately. If you want a stick that never drifts again, look at our PS4 Hall Effect joystick assembly instead.
How to install
- Open the controller (four Phillips screws), unplug the battery and the touchpad ribbon, and lift the board out.
- Desolder the old module. There are 14 solder points per stick, so a desoldering pump or wick is strongly recommended.
- Seat the new assembly flush and solder every pin.
- Reassemble and test both axes in the PS4 controller test menu.
Soldering job, not a snap-in part. Plan on 20 to 30 minutes if you have done board work before.

Common questions
Does this include the rubber thumbstick cap? No, this is the module only. Your original cap presses onto the new stem. If your cap is worn too, add a set of PS4 joystick covers.
Can I do this without soldering? No. The module is soldered to the main board. Most local repair shops will do the swap in under an hour if you bring the part.
Standard or Hall Effect? This is a standard potentiometer stick, the same type Sony used. It feels identical to stock and is the cheaper fix. Hall Effect sticks cost more but do not wear out.
