Email usThe full rundown
A PS3 that struggles to read discs, freezes mid-game or skips during a film has a worn laser. This is the bare optical lens for the CECH-2xxxx Slim series - the cheaper fix when your deck and rail are still in good shape.
What this fixes
- Discs that spin up and are then rejected
- Freezing during gameplay or on load screens
- Blu-ray films skipping while game discs still work, or the reverse
- A drive that reads some discs and not others
Lens, or lens with deck?
- This lens - your deck and rail move freely and only the laser has failed
- Full assembly with deck - simpler swap, and the right call if the rail is gritty or worn

Common questions
How do I know the laser is the fault? Clean the existing lens with isopropyl on a cotton bud. If reading improves even briefly, the laser is on its way out.
Is soldering needed? No, but the ribbon is delicate and the laser is static-sensitive. Handle it by the body.
