Email usThe full rundown
The same KES-400AAA laser as the full assembly, without the deck. Buy this one when you have already opened the drive, confirmed the sled and rail move freely, and know the laser itself is the failure.
What this fixes
- Discs rejected after spinning up
- Freezing and hanging on load screens
- A drive that reads some discs and not others
Deck or no deck?
- No deck (this one) - your existing deck is good and you only need the laser
- With deck - simpler swap, and the right call if the rail is worn or gritty
Identify your laser before ordering
Open the drive and count the lasers on the deck. One laser means KES-400AAA, which is this part. Two lasers means you need the KEM-410ACA assembly instead.
Fits
- Older PlayStation 3 consoles with a single-laser KES-400AAA deck
Does not fit
Two-laser decks. And if your deck is worn, buying the lens alone will not solve it.

Common questions
Why would I buy this over the full assembly? If the deck is fine, there is no reason to pay for another one.
Is any soldering needed? No, but the ribbon cable is delicate and the laser is static-sensitive.
