Email usThe full rundown
Every DSi still in circulation is running on a battery that is well over a decade old, and lithium cells do not age gracefully. The usual story is a console that shows full, then dies twenty minutes later. This is a fresh replacement pack, and a screwdriver comes in the box so you can fit it straight away.
What this fixes
- A DSi that drops from full to dead in under an hour
- A handheld that only stays on while the charger is connected
- A battery that has swollen and is pushing the back cover out
- A console pulled out of storage that will not take a charge at all
- A DSi bought secondhand with a tired or missing battery
Fits
- Nintendo DSi (model TWL-001), the standard size
Does not fit
The DSi XL takes a larger pack, and the DS Lite, original DS, 3DS and 2DS all use different batteries again. We stock those separately. The model number is printed on the back of the console if you need to check.
How to install
- Power the DSi off and unplug the charger.
- Remove the single screw holding the battery cover, using the included screwdriver.
- Lift the cover and take the old battery out.
- Seat the new pack with the contacts lined up, then refit the cover and screw.
- Charge it fully before the first session.
Two minutes, one screw, no soldering.

Common questions
Will this fit a DSi XL? No. The XL uses a physically larger battery. We list that one separately.
My old battery is puffy. What do I do with it? Stop charging it, do not puncture it, and drop it at a battery recycling point rather than putting it in household waste. A swollen pack is the clearest sign it is time to replace.
Do I need tools? No, the screwdriver is included.
My DSi still will not turn on with a new battery. Now what? Then the fault is elsewhere, most often the charge port. We stock DSi charging ports too.
Is this an original Nintendo battery? No, it is a third-party replacement pack.
