Email usThe full rundown
The charging port is the most common hardware failure on a DS Lite. After years of the cable being pushed in, pulled out and yanked sideways, the jack loosens on the board and the console only charges when you hold the plug just right, then stops charging at all. This is a direct replacement charging port for the Nintendo DS Lite. Solder it in and the console charges normally again.
What this fixes
- Orange charge light only comes on when the cable is wiggled or held in place
- No charge at all with a known-good charger
- Loose, rattling or wobbly port
- Bent or pushed-in port from a drop
What you get
Sold as a single port. One is all a DS Lite needs.
Fits
- Nintendo DS Lite (USG-001), all colors and regions
Does not fit
The original DS "phat", DSi, DSi XL and 3DS family use different ports. We stock the DSi charging port separately.
How to install
- Open the DS Lite (tri-wing and Phillips screws), remove the battery and the back shell.
- Desolder the old port from the main board and clean the pads with wick.
- Seat the new port, solder the pins and the anchor tabs, and check for bridges.
- Reassemble and confirm the orange charge light with a charger plugged in.
Soldering job on a small board. If you are not set up for it, a local repair shop can usually fit this in under an hour with the part supplied.

Common questions
Port or battery? If the light comes on when you hold the cable at an angle, it is the port. If it charges fine but dies quickly off the charger, it is the battery.
Is this the same as the DSi port? No. They look similar but are not interchangeable. Check the model number on the back label before ordering.
Is this an original Nintendo part? No, it is a third-party replacement built to the original footprint.
